Flotation devices can be a concern. Some floating dock systems use steel drums that can rust, leak and sink. Others rely on unclad foam blocks that can crumble or tempt rodents and ducks to gnaw.

Superdeck floats have none of these problems. The rigid polystyrene foam is encapsulated to protect from deterioration, physical impact, water erosion, ice, animals, fire, and vandalism.
